Dr. Mikyoung Park, Director of Music
Dr. Mikyoung Park is a lyric soprano from Seoul, South Korea with a passion for global music. Ms. Park has a Doctorate of Musical Arts in voice performance from the University of Minnesota. Prior to that, she studied music at Seoul National University and completed the Opera Institute Program while receiving her degrees. She holds a Master of Sacred Music in choral conducting at Luther Seminary.
Ms. Park has taught voice and piano at Walker Music Academy and Redeemer Music Arts Academy at Redeemer Lutheran Church in north Minneapolis. She has extensive experience leading music for local churches and for church-wide assemblies, including global praise teams. Currently she also serves as voice and piano faculty at MacPhail Center for Music.
At Living Spirit, she leads all of the singing ensembles, accompanies the congregation on Sunday mornings, patiently introduces and teaches music in unfamiliar languages, and occasionally provides special music.
Pat Wright, Nursery Attendant
In March 2016 I saw an ad in the neighborhood looking for a nursery attendant at the church on Sunday morning. I felt drawn to the church (even though I was not raised Methodist) because I could tell people were doing a lot of community outreach and it was very diverse.
I have been working with parents and children for nearly 30 years in ECFE (Early Childhood Family Education) and feel blessed to work in a field that I feel passionate about. I have 2 grown children—they still live in town—who have taught me a lot about parenting.
I started an Airbnb business recently and enjoy traveling and meeting people from all over the world. I'm usually hiding out down the hall in the nursery with the 3 and under crowd but stop in and say hi when you get a chance.
Alice Worden, Office Administrator
Welcome to Living Spirit! I'm the jack-of-all-(administrative)-trades around here. You won't see me on Sunday mornings, but you can stop by the office during the week if you want to say hello. I love putting faces to the names I see on a regular basis, and I love telling strangers a little bit about what Living Spirit has to offer.
I was born and raised out west, and I have the west running through my veins. That being said, I am abnormally suited to extreme cold and dryness, so I consider Minnesota home for the foreseeable future. When I'm not obsessively tweaking minor details on the website, I'm likely to be reading at a park near my apartment or wandering around south Minneapolis trying to find streets I've never walked down before.
