On September 20 Hurricane Maria struck the island of Puerto Rico and caused unimaginable damage leaving over 3 million residents without water, power and access to life’s basic necessities.
On Sunday, November 5 at 6:00 p.m. we will host a benefit concert to raise money for disaster relief as well as help El Colegio High School in their efforts to collect emergency items to be shipped to Puerto Rico (see below). Financial donations will be given to El Fondu Boricua.
The featured band for this benefit is Plenasota, a Puerto Rican Band that plays bomba and plena, percussion-driven musical traditions from Puerto Rico that move people to dance. Their instrumentation consists of Puerto Rican cuatro and electric bass, panderos, congas, guiro, and maracas.
The El Jibarito Food Truck will be on site during the concert, offering Puerto Rican food and donating 30% of the profits.
